Lineup

Stylust Beats (Sleeveless Records)
https://soundcloud.com/stylustbeats

Known for his sleeveless, whimsical synergy with the fans, Geoff “Stylust Beats” Reich has been creating his own counterculture since he was a teenager. A skate punk and hip-hop devotee, this groundbreaking DJ’s talent for fusing rap hooks and dubstep bass with multiple music genres has earned him the rep as a creative renegade carving his own path. With a style that captivates lovers of all music, the Canadian-bred San Francisco DJ has emerged as a frontrunner in the new wave of industry heavyweights. In a recent Artist of the Week interview forMusicYouNeed.net, this stereophonic chameleon explains the method to his madness, “My goal is to make timeless bass music: I try to make every track an epic melodic adventure through many different genres.”

With unabashed rebellion and seamless finesse, Stylust Beats captains this musical trip through uncharted waters on his new album, R.Y.F.S.O., released in Fall 2013 on the formidable bass label, Play Me Free Records. Weaving genres of trap, hip-hop, larger-than-life dubstep and sonic chill with stupefying synth work, R.Y.F.S.O. boasts a kaleidoscope of sound yet un-experienced in the market. Not far removed from his award-nominated Soundbwoy EP, Stylust is showing no sign of backing down from the innovative stylism that has earned him well over a million SoundCloud plays to date.

Blending classic turntablism with cutting edge tech prowess, Geoff has been touring as DJ Stylust Beats since 2008. Stretching all over the United States, Canada and Costa Rica, he has headlined major festivals, including Shambala, Envision and Burning Man, to name a few. With the 2014 festival season already in full swing, this bass-slinging workhorse will be slaying dance floors across North America all summer long.

Now sporting his first full-length album, R.Y.F.S.O., Stylust Beats is poised to rip the sleeves off the dubstep status quo, blazing a new trail of sound that will redefine the industry norms. But don’t be fooled by his rebel-without-a-care persona: with his own label, Sleeveless Records, in the works, Stylust is a consummate pro with a passion for his art form and global respect within his reach. Best described in his own words, just “Rip Yer F#*ckin’ Sleeves Off!”

MIKE GAO (HW&W and Alpha Pup)
https://soundcloud.com/mikegao

Mike Gao is a Los Angeles-based producer, professional music technologist and PhD candidate. An introvert living in an extrovert’s industry, Gao pushes the conventions of hip hop, bass music and beats with his deft approach to music composition. He often collaborates with like-minded musicians such as Ta-ku, Mr. Carmack and Tokimonsta. In addition to this, Gao is an audio scientist who has created his own iOS apps (PolyPlayground and VocalBeater) and plugins under the name Migamo. Gao has performed at festivals such as Outlook, Bonnaroo and Lightning in a Bottle.

CHAMPAGNE DRIP (Mad Decent)
https://soundcloud.com/champagnedrip

Combining equal parts 80's synth & electro funk with 90's retro house, R&B, and jungle rhythms, alongside the fresh sounds of Tropical and Future Bass, Champagne Drip has arrived at just the right time. The project has been getting a good amount of buzz, due in part to it's clandestine nature (the producer's identity and origin is under wraps) vs. the high quality of music it has released right of the gate thru Diplo's label Mad Decent as well as official remixes for Bassnectar, Elliphant, and Lemonade. Champagne Drip's first EP "Radio Bikini" was recently remixed by friends Big Wild, Lazerdisk, Mayhem, and Son Of Kick, released for free in May with support from Mad Decent.

Champagne Drip's new 6-track EP is slated for release in August 2015.

J*LABS (The Good Vibe)
https://soundcloud.com/jlabs

J*Labs has a voracious appetite for new and interesting experiences. As a result, she's constantly on the hunt for new sounds to incorporate into her sets. Her original productions and live DJ sets span a number of genres including but not limited to: West Coast Bass Music, Ghetto Funk, Jungle DnB, Twerk, Breaks, and Trap.

She has played a number of noteworthy festivals and venues including Coachella, Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC), Shambhala and Lightning in a Bottle.

WHITEHORSE - Natalia Benson / Whitehorse
https://soundcloud.com/iam-whitehorse

WHITEHORSE is DJ & Designer Natalia Benson’s etheric bass heavy performance alias. Inspired by a dream she had in early 2012 Natalia began to learn djing as a means of channeling unexpressed creative energy after long hours of solitude designing. Discovering bass music through the festival scene in her early twenties lends itself to WHITEHORSE’s dream like yet powerful sound: channeling other worlds and bringing a message through her music whilst entertaining rap/pop culture samples & heavy bass lines.

Thus far WHITEHORSE has played alongside some of her future bass & trap influenced favorites like Huglife, Vaski, TastyTreat, B.R.E.E.D., AmpLive, Pumpkin, Prince Fox and An-ten-nae as well as performed on The Do Lab stage at Coachella & Lightning in a Bottle.

In June 2015 WHITEHORSE released her first original track entitled IN SKY, a powerfully emotional genre-less work that will be part of a trilogy track release on two subsequent full moons this year. In conjunction to IN SKY's release, WHITEHORSE also wrote & helped to produce her first music video with LA based photographer & film maker Galen Oakes and featuring famed teen actor Blake Michael.

Relief for Nepal Community Initiative- Jesse Jacobellis will be Live Painting!

Event Info
We invite you to join Peacelink Live!, Electric Soul, and Grateful Generationthis Thursday Night as we gather for a night of community inspiration, and collaboration.

This is a possibility for you to personally participate and be a part of providing warmth and shelter from the upcoming rains for many whose homes where destroyed in the devastating Earthquake in Nepal.

On Thursday, July 9th we will be gathering for a community meeting to discuss our Relief for Nepal Fundraiser and Initiative. Our initial goal is to raise $73,000 to purchase building materials, supplies and other resources in preparation for the imminent monsoon season. We are calling upon all who feel inspired to join forces as we gather to see what miracles we can create for these beautiful people who have endured so much.

As part of our fundraising efforts, on July 22, 2015 Peacelink Live!, Electric Soul, and Grateful Generation are hosting a concert at Le Jardin, one of Hollywoods Hottest New Ultra Lounges, to raise funds and awareness in an ongoing initiative to provide relief and help to rebuild Nepal. You have an opportunity to directly contribute to the success of this initiative.

Over 8,500 people were killed, 20,000 injured, hundreds of thousands have been left homeless, and nearly 2 million children have been affected. In some cases, whole villages were destroyed by shockwaves exceeding 7.8 magnitude. Just weeks later, as relief efforts began, the country was hit by another 7.3 magnitude earthquake. Relief is underway, but many of the hardest hit areas are remote villages, which are almost completely inaccessible and outside the scope of major organizations. Right now, displaced villagers are living under tarps, and the monsoon season is coming.

Through our LA-based community, we have been introduced to Larpak, a village in Nepal, desperately in need of help. We are coordinating with local village leaders to support their construction plans. Our community partner is currently constructing long-term, temporary housing for $300 a unit. Each unit houses a family of eight. We will be traveling to Nepal to deliver the relief first hand, help and oversee the building of new housing, and film as part of a continued campaign to assist in completing it's restoration.

We are looking for passionate, committed collaborators who are interested in supporting in a variety of ways! At this meeting we will be creating teams for fundraising, marketing, and talent to share their gifts at our event on the the 22nd. This an opportunity for all who would like to support our brothers and sisters overseas in a solid and tangible way to do so!

We look forward to sharing in this evening and to creating world-changing magic with you all!

In love and service,

The Relief for Nepal Team

Michael Pukac Solo Art Show at ROAM creative w/ Benedigital & Jessie Jacobellis Live Painting

ROAM is honored to present one of the most prolific artist in our life time ... Michael Pukac ...
Michael Pukac, Alabama born and Los Angeles based artist has quickly established himself as one of the more prolific live painters as well as made a name for himself by exhibiting constantly and relentlessly throughout the LA art community. His unique blend of seductive, classical imagery is cross pollinated with a witty, contemporary edge of subtle satire – all doused in reflective paint.
Michael Pukac

ARTIST STATEMENT:

Painting is a very mercurial thing. It’s a relatively simple act that has maintained relevancy throughout time and across most, if not all, cultures. For me, painting is like a collision of concepts as much as it is a combination of skill and material. It is where the creatively abstract and intellectually complex concepts of translation, illusion, allusion, and transformation find a nexus. I crossbreed different genres, eras, and conventions of painting into phantasmagorical anti-epics. I see my work as a kind of cultural aesthetic gumbo poured into its own reality, which is dedicated to honor the creative process. As multifaceted as painting is, it can be reduced to two parts: the “what” and the “how”.

Firstly, “what” I paint, are goddess-like, saint-like women in situations or moments that seem to come from some bizarre myth or a story that you wish you’ve heard. I pull from a barrage of romantic and “painterly” eras of art that reflect our own: Baroque, Rococo, Ashcan, and Art Nouveau. I am influenced heavily by other creative mediums including film (all sorts of animation, 50's, 60'sclassics, and documentaries on culture), theater (Shakespearian, Musical, Avant Guard), music (blues, classical, hip hop, jazz, folk, and rock n’ roll) and literature (Twain, Hemingway, and Robbins. ) They all seem to add to the collision in one way or another. I love to make playful paintings - heartfelt yet irrational. They are like romantic absurdities or well-spoken riddles with no answer - anti-narratives. For instance, the popular riddle by Lewis Carroll, “Why is a raven like a writing desk?”. It’s a beautiful sentence and it’s a riddle you really want to see solved, but the answer is obviously never forthcoming. In a way, that’s the sort of image or scenario that I would like to create. It’s a balance between mystery and accessibility. My paintings may be seen as fun, funny, or pretty on the exterior, but this is just a tool to lure my audience into a world of mixed and matched myths and culture, literary gags, homages to great works of art, sexual metaphors, acts of overt futility, social commentary and to a place where there are no straight answers.

Secondly, is the “how”. Much like what I paint, I also pick and choose techniques of painting that reflect a blending of eras. I favor an old world, brown-sauce painting style electrified by metallic hues and dynamic shifts in space, tone, and temperature, while employing acrylic’s remarkable speed for layering. No longer bound to “thin to fat” oil painting of the past, I believe that this new paint mirrors the speed of our culture. We are visually bombarded with slick images that come out of the ether of binary code. So much so, that it has led to a time when painterly paintings can be appreciated with new eyes. Eyes that yearn for the Wassabi perfection, eyes that long to see the raised lip of the bold brush stroke, or the radiant glaze with the presence of the artists’ hand still noticeable. I often muse over how the space in a painting might be approached or how a particular element in a painting may be expressed. I believe that the voice of the paint is just as important as the image it defines.

In conclusion the “what” and the “how” lead us to the “why”. As an artist, I use painting like a lens to view the world. I find analogous principles and far reaching connections from our world to the world of paint. I believe a painter should try to paint as nature creates. So much so, that I’ve divided my work into the four elements, earth, air, fire, and water. These categories are not established on subject but, on the over all feel of the painting. This includes the way the paint operates, the character of the brush strokes, the push and pull of space and how the subjects in the paintings are interacting in their environments. The more I explore, the more connections I find. In the end, what keeps me painting is the idea that so much of a legacy and so many opportunities can exist in the tiny space between a brush tip loaded with paint and the surface with which it is meant to connect.

After Party: 9-2am @ 131 = across the courtyard to a magical space ... Topanga Underground

We are excited to add Miles Tackett & The 3 Times! 9-10pm * You Do Not want to miss this...
Miles Tackett is best known around the world as bassist/leader of Breakestra, a funk, soul-jazz band whose records & live shows are a throwback to the pre-sampling era of Bronx DJ performances. "Music Man Miles", as he is known among the underground DJ crowd, also helms the longest-running funky soul party in Los Angeles spinning an all-vinyl set.
Tackett’s musical reputation extends well beyond the underground clubs of Los Angeles. He has performed and collaborated with a wide range of artists, including Blind Melon, B.B. King, Damien Marley, Little Feat, Macy Gray and legendary soul singer Syl Johnson. After years of focusing on a purist funk style and sound with Breakestra, Tackett has taken some time to write new songs using his first love, the electric guitar. Miles has released his most personal album yet, the soulful, guitar-centric The Fool Who Wonders. With an array of influences that draw from vintage soul, rhythm and blues, psychedelic, and blues/jazz influenced folk and rock, this album’s new vintage sound brings Tackett’s varied musical travels back to his roots. *wikipedia
